Real life London in a fictional world.
London is full of stories and characters who want to share them. Poppycockney takes real life London and mixes it with a fresh new tale.
We'll introduce you to amazing characters and you'll get to know them as they skip around the city. They'll share every intimate detail of their lives with you. You'll meet their friends and their enemies. You'll love some and love to hate others.
You'll see London through their eyes. The Poppycockney characters will show you what's new and exciting and what events you should be going to. They'll chat to real life Londoners and show you the ins and outs of your favourite city.
Because sometimes real life can be just as much fun as fiction.
Freelance journalist and also Webjam's very own community editor, Sian is the editor of Poppycockney and she writes the blog's central character, Poppy. She also writes for London's most important websites including Le Cool, Londonist, Qype and The Hospital Club.
She loves discovering London and is always looking for the perfect cocktail bar as you can see from her new blog Cocktails and Cake. If she's too hungover for cocktails, you'll find her shopping for vintage jewellery or outside cafes in Greenwich. Usually with tea, cake and a pair of dark sunglasses.
Tell her about your exciting scandals here.
Jane is a freelance writer who has previously been published in Mslexia, online magazine Lesbilicious and London music newspaper The Stool Pigeon. She writes the character of Aimee and is currently also working on a project that might, with a lot of luck (and tea and cheesecake), one day become a novel.
She lives in South East London with acclaimed artists John Cake and Darren Neave. Her love of writing is matched only by her passion for vintage frocks, Jeffrey Eugenides' novels, and having filthy daydreams about Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
Share your undying love with her here.
Cate Sevilla hails from northern California and is a freelance writer living in London. She and her husband live in a quirky little flat where they have more gadgets than necessary furniture, and a shameful amount of liquor.
Specializing in feminism and pop culture, Cate has written for various weblogs and websites such as Yahoo! Personals, T3.com and is the former Editor of Dollymix.tv. She's been featured as a "new young feminist" in The Observer Woman, and even won a trip around the world through her popular blog, CupCate.com. Neat, huh?
Cate loves 2-for-1 happy hours and books on typography, and is busy as a bee launching her latest project: BitchBuzz.com.
Distract her from her day job here.
Poppycockney is a mix of fact and fiction. Everything about London - from events, venues and shops is real. Nothing about the settings we use for our fiction is made up. (Of course, sometimes when we do interviews with real Londoners there is room for a little, erm, 'artistic licence', but you'll forgive us for that, won't you?)
Everything else on the site - the characters, their friends and the situations they get themselves into are all made up in our silly little heads. The characters are not based on anybody real (either living or deceased). If you think they are, you're probably being a little too self-absorbed.
Come and play with Poppy and her friends. They might invite you to parties.
